Home Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 18 October 2026

IAWRT Kenya is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, at three levels of conformance: A, AA and AAA. Our target for https://iawrt.or.ke is WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The site is partially conformant: some content, especially older posts and third-party embeds, may not yet fully meet the standard.

Accessibility features of this website

  • A “Skip to main content” link as the first item on every page, and a consistent page structure with header, main content and footer landmarks.
  • Keyboard support throughout, with a clearly visible focus outline on links, buttons and form fields.
  • Text and background colours chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios, and a single, highly legible typeface (Poppins).
  • Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Logical heading structure on every page and descriptive link text; links that open in a new tab are announced.
  • Forms with visible labels, required-field indicators and clear error messages.
  • The home page slideshow can be paused, and animations are reduced when your device is set to “reduce motion”.
  • An accessibility toolbar (font size, contrast, readable font and more) and a dark-mode switch.

Known limitations

  • Some documents in the Document Library are PDFs that may not be fully accessible. Contact us and we will provide an accessible version.
  • Embedded social media feeds and videos are provided by third parties and may not fully conform.
